• Dress in layers. Mornings can be chilly in many locations and then warm up significantly during the day.
  • Wear protective shoes. Closed sports sandals (like Keenes) are fine but not flip flops or open sandals.
  • Many lodges are located within game parks. In these locations you should not move around the park on your own without lodge security accompanying you. Your guide(s) will notify you when you need to observe this caution.
  • Remote lodges are normally on generator power and have limited hours where electricity and hot water are available. Plan to bring solar charges and other light sources if you want to accommodate your needs. Plan to follow lodge schedules for hot water availability.
  • Our trips are booked at specific lodges for meals an accommodation. Travel to other locations for either is not an option.
  • Travel Accident Insurance is recommended for all travelers to Africa.
  • Confirmation of Emergency Evacuation insurance is a required part of your travel arrangements.
  • Visas are required for each country you will be traveling to. These may be acquired in advance through several booking options. Advance arrangements can avoid delays when you are trying to enter a country. Additionally some airlines require proof of Visas before they allow you to board the flight.
  • Each country you will be visiting has its own immunization requirements. Please check with your local travel clinics or healthcare providers to determine the specific requirements for your travels. Plan to complete your immunizations in advance of your trip and carry your official immunization confirmation record with you as part of your travel documents.
  • During game drives your driver will plan refreshment and restroom stops. Please do not exit the vehicle on your own or wander in areas away from your guide and the group. The parks are wild areas and animals may be anywhere. Your guides are trained to make sure you are safe to stop or exit. If an emergency comes up please notify your guide and allow them to support your requirements.
  • Water and other beverages are often provided in our vehicles as part of the game drive.
  • Most of our vehicles have charging ports for your cameras and mobile devices.
  • It is recommended that you use some type of insect repellent (with DEET) each day to ensure you have adequate protection from mosquitos and other biting insects.
  • If you want to plug in your electronic devices bring the appropriate chargers for the area you are traveling in. Universal charging sets are a good idea when traveling to multiple countries.
  • Rain happens even in tropical areas. It may be warm but it can be wet. Appropriate rain cover or an umbrella may be a good thing to pack.
  • Bring your necessities with you. We will not be in locations where we can easily stop to shop for your needs.
  • The African sun can be very hot. Wearing a hat is recommended when you are out during the day. Also recommended are sunglasses, lip balm and sunblock.
  • Do not drink water from the tap or use it to brush your teeth. Bottled water will be provided for your use.
  • US currency can be used in most countries in lieu of the local currency. It is sometimes challenging to order local currency before you travel. You can either use US dollars during your stay or change US dollars for local currency upon your arrival. ATMs are also an option but only available in larger cities.
  • Bring extra camera batteries and memory card(s). You will take more pictures than you think.
  • Bring a day pack to carry your daily items with you.
  • Binoculars are a good idea for viewing game and birds.
  • Packing a small, personal first aid kit could come in handy.
  • Travel with hand sanitizer or personal wipes. You won’t always have a chance to wash when you want to.
  • At 19,341 feet altitude sickness is very real and can surprise you on Kilimanjaro and in other areas. Please allow enough time to acclimatize as much as possible if you are prone to this issue. Advance trials at higher altitudes at home or in Tanzania before you make the ascent are encouraged.
